The line

The reason Dauthi Voidwalker keeps coming up alongside Rest in Peace when players talk about the best graveyard stax pieces is that it does something Rest in Peace cannot: it lets you spend those exiled cards. Everything an opponent mills, fetches, or sacrifices gets exiled with a void counter, and you can cash the creature in to play any one of those cards without paying its mana cost. That's graveyard hate that can close games.

What it does

Every card that would hit an opponent's graveyard goes to exile with a void counter instead. When you're ready to cash in, you tap and sacrifice it to play any one of those exiled cards without paying its mana cost. The creature itself can only be blocked by other shadow creatures, which in most Commander pods means it attacks through most boards freely.

Where it shines

Black stax and control builds that want to punish graveyard-heavy metas. It's especially punishing against self-mill and reanimator strategies, where opponents funnel their best threats straight into exile for you. The free play off the sacrifice is most backbreaking when you grab an opponent's reanimation target or a high-cost finisher they just tutored into the bin.

The catch

The payoff is entirely dependent on what opponents are putting into their graveyards. Against decks that don't interact with their graveyard much, Voidwalker is just a 2/1 with shadow that taxes a removal spell. It also attracts removal early because experienced players know exactly how punishing the late-game activation is, so you often sacrifice it to play around a board wipe rather than getting the free spell you wanted.
