Harmonic Prodigy
Creature — Human Wizard · Rare
It's a genuinely strong value engine for Wizard and Shaman tribal, not the infinite-combo piece some threads are treating it as.
The interaction
This card has been sitting on shelves for about two months, and Wizard and Shaman players still can't agree on how its extra-trigger clause actually behaves once you stack it with other doublers.
What it does
Whenever an ability trigger from one of your Wizards or Shamans goes on the stack, you get that trigger a second time, on top of a serviceable prowess body that grows when you cast noncreature spells.
Where it shines
Wizard typal decks packed with ETB and activated abilities, where doubling a card draw, ping, or counter trigger from every Wizard or Shaman on board turns a grindy turn into a blowout.
Plays well with
- Both cards double the same magecraft and noncreature-spell triggers, so stacking them turns a single Mizzix's Mastery-style trigger into four copies instead of two.
- Storm-Kiln Artist is a Shaman whose treasure-making trigger gets doubled by Harmonic Prodigy, turning one spell cast into two Treasures instead of one.
- Roaming Throne already copies triggered abilities from a chosen creature type, and layering Harmonic Prodigy on top pushes ETB and attack triggers from your Wizards or Shamans even further.
The catch
It only doubles triggered abilities from Wizards and Shamans specifically, so a board full of other creature types gets nothing from it, and it does nothing at all if you're not already committed to that typal shell.
