Card of the Day · July 5, 2026 Salt Pick
Seedborn Muse
Creature — Spirit · Rare
It's one of the strongest value engines you can cast for five mana, and also the reason your opponents stop attacking each other and start attacking you.
Why it stings
Ask any table what they kill on sight and this name comes up fast, and it's not close.
What it does
Your permanents untap during every other player's untap step, which means your mana, your blockers, and your activated abilities are live all the time instead of only on your turn.
Where it shines
Any deck built around instant-speed value, mana rocks with activated abilities, or creatures you want up as blockers around the clock. It turns a normal Commander deck into one that's never actually tapped out.
Plays well with
- It's the colorless version of the same effect, so stacking both means your mana rocks and creatures are functionally always untapped.
- Muldrotha wants mana and permanents available on every turn cycle to keep replaying things from the graveyard, and Seedborn Muse keeps that mana and those blockers live outside your own turn.
- Both effects untap your board on the same axis, so running them together means creatures you tap for abilities or attacks come back up almost immediately.
The catch
It doesn't protect itself and it doesn't win the game by itself. Once it resolves you become the target, and a lot of tables have removal ready specifically because they've seen this card before.
