Masters Edition II

The most efficient combo piece in the format, and the reason people build their whole deck around a two-card win they can hold up on turn three.

Why it stings

This card has been in cEDH decks for years, and it's still the most resented one-mana spell at the table because of what it enables, not what it does on its own.

What it does

You name a card, exile from the top of your library until you either hit it or run out of cards to reveal, then put the named card into your hand. Name something you know isn't in your deck and you strip your library down to nothing, setting up a win the moment you have Thassa's Oracle or Laboratory Maniac on board.

Where it shines

Doomsday and Thassa's Oracle cEDH shells, where this is cast for one black mana off a stack of tutors and rituals to close the game before opponents untap.

Plays well with

The catch

Name the wrong card or misjudge your library count and you deck yourself with no payoff on board, which is the fastest way to lose a game you were winning.
