The Great Goblin
Legendary Creature — Goblin Noble · Rare
Strong commander for a counters or aristocrats Goblin deck, but the cEDH combo chatter is getting ahead of the card. Nobody has a proven line yet.
The buzz
This one's still 13 days from being legal, so everything you're hearing about it is theory, not results. The Great Goblin hasn't touched a real table yet, and the gap between what people want it to do and what it actually does is worth sorting out now.
What it does
Every time you put a counter on a Goblin, Orc, or Army, an opponent takes 2. Every time one of those creatures dies, you exile the top card of your library and get a window to play it. That's damage from going wide with counters (proliferate, amass, +1/+1 tribal) plus card advantage from a sacrifice or attrition plan, stapled onto one three-mana legend.
Where it shines
Rakdos decks built around Blight-style amass, proliferate packages, or a Goblin aristocrats shell where creatures are expected to die anyway. If your deck already makes tokens with counters or sacrifices them for value, this commander taxes your opponents for stuff you were doing regardless.
The catch
Both abilities need a specific creature type on board, Goblin, Orc, or Army, so this does nothing in a deck that isn't already built around those tribes. It also doesn't protect itself or generate value on its own; it's a payoff piece, not an engine starter.
