Jeska's Will
Sorcery · Rare
This is one of the best red spells printed for Commander in years, and it does its job whether or not you're going infinite.
The line
With Underworld Breach on the battlefield, Jeska's Will stops being a value spell and becomes the ignition switch for a wheel loop that ends games.
What it does
Pick a mode, or both if you're the commander, casting one: rip open an opponent's hand for a burst of red mana, or exile your top three cards to play free spells this turn. Both modes together turn one card into a mana boost and a hand refill.
Where it shines
Mono-red or Rakshasa storm-adjacent decks running Underworld Breach and a wheel effect like Wheel of Misfortune, where Jeska's Will supplies the red mana to recast the wheel from the graveyard again and again.
Plays well with
- Jeska's Will can generate enough red mana off a big opponent hand to pay Underworld Breach's escape cost and recast a wheel effect from the graveyard, looping the combo.
- The mana mode functions like a Seething Song that also hands you two extra cards to spend it on.
- Both cards convert board or hand state into a burst of red mana, letting you chain into a big spell the same turn.
The catch
The mana mode is only as good as your opponent's hand size, so it whiffs hard against an empty-handed table and you're stuck with just the impulse draw.
