Legendary Creature — Eternal Villain · Mythic

EDHREC #18,781 Marvel Super Heroes

The body alone is worth the three mana. The Power-up is where opinions split hard, and both sides have a point.

The buzz

Three build paths, roughly equal adoption, no consensus. That's where Thanos, the Mad Titan sits right now.

What it does

You get a 4/4 deathtouch lifelink on turn three or four in Mardu colors, full stop. The upside is a WUBRG activation that adds two +1/+1 counters and destroys every other creature matching a parity you choose, once per game, cheaper if he just entered the battlefield.

Where it shines

Blink shells are the sharpest application. Conjurer's Closet or Ephemerate effects flicker Thanos, which creates a new object, resetting the once-per-game restriction and the entered-this-turn discount. That turns a single board wipe into a repeatable one, assuming you can keep hitting five colors on a budget.

The catch

WUBRG is a real ask even in a five-color deck, and outside a blink shell you only get to pull the parity trigger once per game. A lot of tables will just be paying three mana for a very good vanilla-ish creature.
