Card of the Day · June 27, 2026 New / Spoiler Spotlight
King T'Challa
Legendary Creature — Human Noble Hero // Legendary Creature — Human Warrior Hero · Mythic
The front half is a Faerie Mastermind that draws off your own second card too, which makes it legitimately better in most pods, but the back half is an overcosted threat that invites removal the moment you tap out for it.
The buzz
King T'Challa // Black Panther, Hope Enduring has been out for one day and players are already splitting hard on whether to run the front half as a value engine, ignore the transform entirely, or push the voltron line that the back face screams for.
What it does
Front face: a 3/2 with flash that draws you a card whenever any player draws their second card in a turn, yourself included. Back face after paying 4WU at sorcery speed: a creature with double strike, complete damage prevention, and a card draw trigger whenever it deals combat damage to a player.
Where it shines
Blue-white or Esper midrange and card advantage piles that already run cantrips and cheap draw spells. Every opponent who cracks a wheel, plays a cantrip, or runs Rhystic Study alongside you is feeding your hand. You do not need to build around it, you just need a table that draws cards, which is every table.
The catch
Six mana at sorcery speed to transform into a creature that still dies to exile-based removal, sacrifice effects, and bounce is a steep ask. Damage prevention does nothing against Path to Exile or Swords to Plowshares, and the moment you commit to the back face your opponents know exactly what you are doing.
