TCG Strat covers Commander: deckbuilding, rankings, and set reviews, alongside daily card prices and expected-value analysis for sealed product. We have been running since 2026.

The Index

The Index is the price half of the site. Every card we track has a page showing its current market price, the price of each printing and finish, and how that price has moved over the past week, month, year, or since we started watching it. Set pages roll the same data up: what a set is worth, which cards carry that value, and what has moved recently.

Prices are collected once a day from major Magic marketplaces, supplemented by pricing data from TCGCSV. They are market prices, not offers. We do not sell cards and we hold no inventory. A price here tells you what the market has recently done, not what a seller will charge you today.

Sealed EV

Sealed EV answers one question: is a sealed product worth more opened or unopened? For each booster box, bundle, and precon we track, we estimate the singles value inside it from published pull rates and the current price of every card in the set, then compare that estimate to what the box costs.

It is an estimate and we present it as one. The number rests on pull rates that are published rather than measured, on prices that move daily, and on the assumption that you could sell what you open at market price, which you could not. It is a starting point for a decision, not the decision, and it is not financial advice.

Articles

Articles are reviewed and updated regularly. When a set releases, a rules interaction changes, or a price makes an article's advice wrong, we go back and fix it. How we check them, and how corrections work, is on the Methodology page.

How we make money

Mostly, not yet. We're starting to participate in affiliate programs — including Amazon Associates — but a program only earns us anything on the specific marketplaces we've actually turned it on for. Every live one says so right next to the link itself, not only here.

The rule stays the same whether a given link is live or not. Prices are collected the same way for every marketplace, and the cheapest one is shown as the cheapest one. Sealed EV verdicts are computed from prices and pull rates, and there is no input to that calculation anyone can pay us to move. Commission comes from the marketplace, not from you — it never changes what you pay.
